The hotel Casa do Conto was created in 2011 by the architects firm called Pedra Líquida. "Pedra Líquida" literally means "liquid stone". This choice of name successfully represents the radical technique these architects like to use. Usually concrete is a key ingredient in their very creative projects. The Hotel Casa do Conto is such an artistic and highly interesting architectural design. The building looks like a normal Porto townhouse, but once inside, the design features exposed concrete which was skilfully used to create incredible spaces. The combination of materials used is beautiful. The rooms are a stunning minimal and modern design, enhanced with concrete ceilings that have typography stenciled into them. Wondering around the hotel is a joy as you constantly discover more interesting architectural details.
The Hotel Case do Conto is located very near the Casa da Música concert hall in Porto, which in itself is worth a visit just for its incredibly unique architecture.
The Casa do Conto features many communal spaces that more resemble a private house rather than a hotel, which is why the owners call the hotel Arts & Residence. From beautiful living rooms to a small library to a decent sized back garden, there are many areas where you can just relax and read a book. It really feels more like you are visiting a friend's home rather than a hotel. Stunning.
Guests of the Casa do Conto can also enjoy the garden and swimming pool of the partner Hotel Tipografia do Conto by Casa do Conto, which is just a three minute walk away.
